Arashiyama Kyotos Bamboo Forest
A HDR shot of Kyotos famous bamboo forest or grove. This is three exposures of + and – 2.0 EV blended together and shot handheld. There was such great light behind the bamboo. Although if I’d have got there earlier maybe I would’ve beat the tourists.
The Bamboo Forest
The walking paths that through the bamboo groves make for a lovely walk. You can even rent a rickshaw if you don’t feel like walking. The bamboo has been used to manufacture various products, such as baskets, cups, boxes and mats at local workshops for centuries. I bought my bamboo chopsticks (that are too good to use normally) from the local town.
Arashiyama District Kyoto
Found on the outskirts of Kyoto, Arashiyama (嵐山 Storm Mountain) also refers to the mountain across the Ōi River. The mountain forms a backdrop to the district which bursts into colour during autumn. It’s easy to see how Arashiyama is a nationally designated Historic Site and Place of Scenic Beauty. See my previous post for a shot of Arashiyama by the river.
