On my 2016 trip to Japan touching down in Tokyo late afternoon we got to our Hotel quite late. So we dumped the bags and went straight out for some delicious Japanese food. Tokyo is such an amazing place for many things high up on the list is the food. Tokyo is the leading city in the world for the most Michelin stars, followed by Kyoto also in Japan. I was staying in the Shibuya district of Tokyo, so on leaving the hotel I was spoilt for choice of restaurants.
This shot was took around the back of one the smaller less central to Shibuya restaurants. It was my second visit to Japan but I was still blown away by the neon lights at night. On entering a restaurant in Japan I was often welcomed by all the staff yelling a greeting quite loudly when you enter. I believe its いらっしゃいませ (irasshaimase) and means ‘Welcome’. The first time I heard it I thought I was in trouble for not taking my shoes off or something. Every restaurant I visited in Japan the staff were always so polite, diligent and hard working.
