Jaisalmer Fort at Night

Moon overlooks Jaisalmer Fort

Jaisalmer Fort at Night

Jaisalmer Fort at night with the moon looking down on it. This shot is a composite of two different images the moon and the fort at night. The moon was actually way off to the left from where I was shooting. There was little light pollution in Jaisalmer as its not a large well developed town, so I managed to get a very detailed shot of the moon. This was took from the rooftop of my hotel it was an amazing view sitting up there watching the Sun go down with a Masala Chai (my absolute favourite tea I couldn’t get enough of them.)

“Jaisalmer Fort is one of the largest fortifications in the world. Situated in the city of Jaisalmer, in the Indian state of Rajasthan it has been named a World Heritage Site. Built in 1156 AD by the Rajput ruler Rawal Jaisal. The fort stands amidst the sandy expanse of the great Thar Desert, on Trikuta Hill, and has been the scene of many battles. Its massive yellow sandstone walls are a tawny lion colour during the day, fading to honey-gold as the sun sets, thereby camouflaging the fort in the yellow desert. For this reason, it is also known as the Sonar Quila or Golden Fort. The fort is located in the very heart of the city, and is one of the most notable monuments in the locality. ”
