Mount Arapiles Rock Climbers Dream
The grand Mount Arapiles is a rock-climbers dream. I spent a week here learning to climb under the tutelage of a friend I met while travelling in India. The sandstone crags are world class due to relatively hard rock with ridges that give good grip. Meaning there are many easy to hard routes.
The Arapiles is a rock formation that rises about 140 metres (460 ft) AHD above the Wimmera plains in western Victoria, Australia. Some 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) west of the town of Natimuk and is part of the Mount Arapiles-Tooan State Park. The aboriginal name for the Arapiles is Djurite.
