Victoria Memorial Hall Kolkata
For my first post in Kolkata I’ve chosen the Victoria Memorial Hall. This photograph was taken just as the sun is setting. The memorial Hall is a relic to the days of the British Empire and ruling monarch of the time Queen Victoria. Kolkata also known as Calcutta is classed as a megacity. The megacity is the principal commercial, cultural, and educational centre of East India, located on the east bank of the Hooghly River. My preconceptions of the city was one of poverty as I was taught in school about Mother Teresa treating the poor. I was most pleasantly surprised to find it to be a vibrant multicultural city and the perfect way to end my three month tour of India.
